The tenor Francisco Fernández-Rueda was born in Seville and began his musical training as a clarinettist. He holds a degree in French Studies from the University of Seville. Later he moved to Barcelona where he studied singing with Lambert Climent and Art Song with Lynne Dawson, Assumpta Mateu and Francisco Poyato at the Escola Superior de Musica de Catalunya (ESMUC). Currently he is being coached by Raúl Giménez in Barcelona. He won first prize at the Concurs Mirabent i Magrans (Barcelona) and was a semi-finalist at the Concorso Toti dal Monte (Treviso). He has appeared as a soloist throughout Europe and in the United States, and collaborated with leading ensembles, festivals and conductors.
