FRANZ LISZT PIANO DUO
Vittorio Bresciani • Francesco Nicolosi
Vittorio Bresciani and Francesco Nicolosi formed the Franz Liszt Piano Duo in 1998 with the aim of promoting Liszt’s symphonic work through the composer’s own transcriptions for two pianos. The project began with the Goethe-inspired Faust-Symphonie and continued with the Dante-Symphonie after Dante’s Divine Comedy. The Duo has performed at many prestigious concert venues, including the Teatro alla Scala, Milan, the Rome Teatro dell’Opera, the Arena of Verona, Naples Teatro San Carlo, the Teatro Bellini of Catania, Teatro Politeama in Palermo, the Cagliari Teatro Lirico, the Ravenna Festival, the Turin Settembre Musica, the Ravello Festival, the Budapest Liszt Festival, Kunstfest Weimar and the Gustav Mahler Musikwochen. The Duo also made its United States début at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. and in Argentina at the Teatro Avenida in Buenos Aires.
For the Dante-Symphonie Bresciani and Nicolosi have conceived a multimedia project with the projection of images based on Gustav Doré’s illustrations elaborated by computer graphics and the recitation of passages from Dante’s poem during the music in the form of a melodrama.
