FRENCH CHAMBER ORCHESTRA

Acclaimed as one of France’s best chamber orchestras, the French Chamber Orchestra Albéric MAGNARD (manager Christian Raverdel, violinist) founded in 1989, is based in Senlis, 40 km north of Paris. The Orchestra performs regularly in Paris (including the Salle Pleyel, Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, Palais des Congrès, Eglise de La Madeleine, Eglise St Germain des Prés, etc) and throughout France. In Spain, it is one of the most frequently-invited French chamber groups, having made numerous appearances at the prestigious Santander International Festival, the Montserrat International Music Week, the International Festivals of Palencia and Gandia, and in concerts in Madrid and Grenada. The Orchestra also performs regularly in England (Royal Opera House/Covent Garden in London), Switzerland (Tönhalle/Zurich, StadtCasino/Basel & Genève, Théâtre Baulieu/Lausanne), Holland (Concertgebouw/Amsterdam), Italy (the Roma International Festival of sacred music, Teatro Regio di Parma, La Pietà church/Venezia, Teatro Verdi/Fiorenzuola), Belgium (Palais des Beaux-Arts/Brussels), Germany and the Czech Republic (the Trutnov Autumn Festival).

Renowned soloists with whom the Orchestra has collaborated include Maurice André, Guy Touvron (trumpet), Pierre Amoyal (violin), Paul Badura-Skoda, Jean-Claude Pennetier, Jean-Marc Luisada (piano), Gérard Caussé (viola), Frédéric Lodéon (conductor and cellist), Maxence Larrieu (flautist), among others. Since 2004 it has been the resident orchestra of the 18th century Théâtre Impérial de Compiègne, France’s most famous theatre for French music.

The orchestra has already recorded several CDs, including a special “Hommage à l’Europe” which received an award at the famous “Victoires de la Musique” on French National TV in 2001. The French Chamber Orchestra is supported by the French Ministry of Culture, The Council of the Oise, the town of Senlis & the SPEDIDAM (Société de Perception & de Distribution des Droits des Artistes-Interprètes de la Musique et de la Danse).
