GASTONE SARTI After completing his studies in Bologna and winning success in a number of competitions, Gastone Sarti made his début at the Teatro Nuovo in Milan, followed by engagements at La Scala, La Fenice, Rome Opera and elsewhere in Italy and throughout Europe. He has subsequently turned his attention to early repertoire, under the guidance of Angelo Ephrikian, recording a quantity of this, including music by Carissimi, Monteverdi and Gesualdo. At the same time he has undertaken leading rôles in contemporary Italian opera, including works by Petrassi, Bussotti and Berio.
