GILDA LYONS Gilda Lyons, performer, composer, and visual artist, is a frequent recitalist, performing her own vocal works as well as those of other living composers. She performs regularly as a member of the voice and cello trio Seraphim, which has commissioned works by Hayes Biggs, Paula Kimper, and Eric Moe, among others. American Opera Projects gave the concert premiere of her opera The Walled Up Wife (2005). Recipient of the Kingsford Fund Commission (2008) from ASCAP and Artistic Director of the Phoenix Concerts in New York City, Ms. Lyons made her professional debut as composer and vocalist with the American Symphony Chamber Orchestra in 1997, performing the world premiere of her orchestral song cycle Feis. She received her Ph.D. in Music Composition from the State University of New York at Stony Brook and is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh and Bard College.
