GIUSEPPE FILIANOTI Giuseppe Filianoti was born in Reggio Calabria, studying singing and music at the Conservatory and graduating also in literature. He participated in a course given by Alfredo Kraus in Milan and in 2004 won the Franco Abbati Italian Critics’ Prize as the best singer of the year. He made his début in 1998 at the Bologna Teatro Comunale in the title-rôle of Donizetti’s Dom Sébastien under Daniele Gatti. His career has continued with appearances in all the major Italian opera-houses, including La Scala, Milan, and collaboration with leading conductors. Abroad he has also taken principal rôles in Vienna, Barcelona, Zurich, London, Monte Carlo, Japan, Berlin, Las Palmas, Lausanne and Toulouse, with a repertoire ranging from Monteverdi to Stravinsky, and including Donizetti, Rossini, and Verdi.
