GRANOLLERS CHAMBER ORCHESTRA
Leader: Santiago Juan
The Granollers Chamber Orchestra has been the resident orchestra of Teatre Auditori de Granollers since the theatre opened in 2002 and is closely linked with the institutions of this town. Francesc Guillén has been chief conductor and artistic director since the orchestra’s formation.
Renowned conductors and soloists have collaborated with the orchestra, including Ernest Martínez Izquierdo, Edmon Colomer, Andrew Watkinson, Salvador Brotons, Barry Sargent, David Strange, Manel Valdivieso, Corrado Bolsi, Farran James, Albert Guinovart, Maxence Larrieu, Santiago Juan, Jordi Masó, Mayte Martín, and Christophe Coin.
In addition to regular concerts in its home town and the concerts given throughout the year in other Catalan towns, the Orchestra participates in different cycles of concerts at the Palau de la Música Catalana in Barcelona, and in other important concert halls. It also carries out important promotion work in order to attract new audiences, with concerts designed especially for children. In the few years since its formation, and with a history of more than 300 concerts, the Granollers Chamber Orchestra has become one of the most progressive and prestigious chamber orchestras in Spain. In 2006 the OCGr recorded a cricially acclaimed CD for Naxos of music for chamber orchestra by Joaquim Homs. The Orquestra de Cambra de Granollers is sponsored by La Mutua, Estabanell Energia and Obra Social “la Caixa”.
