HANS KOTTER

(1485 - 1541)

A pupil of Paul Hofhaimer, the German organist and composer Hans Kotter served in Fribourg, before his declared Protestant beliefs brought about his dismissal. Thereafter, from 1534, he taught in Berne, where he died in 1541. His music is preserved in organ tablatures which include free compositions and transcriptions.
