Heather Shipp studied at Trinity College of Music and the National Opera Studio. Recent engagements include Wellgunde (Der Ring), Zaida (Il Turco in Italia) and Gymnasiast (Lulu) at the Royal Opera House, and in Madrid, Donna in David Sawer’s Skin Deep in Copenhagen, Minskwoman (Flight) at the Adelaide Festival, Tisbe (La Cenerentola) in Frankfurt, April Showers (Playing Away), and Moppet (Paul Bunyan) at the Bregenz Festival and Carmen in Bermuda. British appearances include Nancy (Albert Herring), Piazzolla’s Tango Appassionato, and his opera Maria de Buenos Aires, Diana Deveraux (Of Thee I Sing), Skin Deep and Mad Margaret in Ruddigore with Opera North; Poppea, Offred’s Double (The Handmaid’s Tale) and Third Girl (From Morning to Midnight) for English National Opera, Bersi (Andrea Chénier) and Maddalena in Rigoletto for Opera Holland Park. In addition she has a very busy concert and recording career.
