The Honvéd Male Choir was founded in Budapest in 1949. Its sound combines the range and power of Slavonic choirs with the exceptional emotional sensitivity and expressiveness characteristic of Central European choral culture. With its current compliment of 44 singers, the ensemble performs in almost every genre, period and style, with a wide repertoire from Gregorian chant to the contemporary, and from Russian church music to opera and jazz.
