HORIA ANDREESCU Chief Conductor of the Romanian National Radio Orchestras and of the George Enescu Philharmonic Orchestra, and founder and conductor of “The Virtuosi of Bucharest” Chamber Orchestra, Horia Andreescu has served as as permanent guest conductor with three German orchestras, the Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Dresden Philharmonic Orchestra and the Staatskapelle Schwerin. He has undertaken engagements with such orchestras as the Berlin Staatskapelle, Gewandhaus Leipzig, Vienna Symphony, London Symphony Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, London, Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra, Netherlands Radio Philharmonic Orchestra, BBC Scottish, NDR-Hamburg, radio orchestras of Leipzig, Madrid, Copenhagen, the Israel Chamber Orchestra Tel Aviv and Nagoya Philharmonic Orchestra, among others.
Horia Andreescu has recorded over nine hundred works for broadcasts in Romania and abroad, and has made over sixty recordings for various record companies. His seven CDs of George Enescu’s orchestral works issued by Olympia have won particular praise.
