IBERIAN CHAMBER ORCHESTRA Artistic Director: Miguel Fdez. Llamazares
The Iberian Chamber Orchestra was formed in 2000 with professional string players from orchestras and conservatories of Castilla y León and Asturias. It has been the resident orchestra of the Spanish Music Festival of León (Spain) since 2001. The Iberian Orchestra specialises in contemporary Spanish music, while also giving attention to earlier composers. In 2008 the orchestra made its début in the National Auditorium in Madrid and in the Auditorium of León, conducted by José Luis Temes, and in 2009 gave the première at the Auditorium of León of Leonardo Balada’s Caprichos No 5 for cello and strings, under the direction of Temes. In 2010 the orchestra participated in the Contemporary Music Festival in Málaga with Tomás Garrido as guest conductor. Since its inception the Iberian Chamber Orchestra has worked under the artistic direction of violinist Miguel Fdez. Llamazares, with distinguished guest concert-masters and conductors. It has also collaborated with renowned soloists.
