JOHN ALLEY John Alley is Principal Keyboard Player with the London Symphony Orchestra. He began his musical training as a chorister of Westminster Abbey, thereafter studying piano at the Guildhall School of Music with James Gibb. Starting as an accompanist, he began working as an orchestral pianist and has played with most of the British orchestras along with the London Sinfonietta and chamber orchestras such as the Chamber Orchestra of Europe and the English Chamber Orchestra. He has performed in over a hundred Promenade Concerts and has worked with many of the twentieth century’s major composer/conductors, including Boulez, Berio, Benjamin, Henze, Lutosławski and Oliver Knussen. He has recorded extensively for television, radio and disc.
