JOHN OSBORN

A leading tenor in bel canto repertoire, John Osborn was born in Sioux City, Iowa. Success in 1994 in the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions was followed by first prize in the Plácido Domingo Operalia Concours International. He made his European début in 1997 at Cologne as Fenton in Falstaff, followed by appearances in major opera houses throughout the world. His rôles include Rodrigo in Rossini’s La donna del lago (La Scala, Milan) and Otello (Oper Zürich), Count Almaviva in Rossini’s Il barbiere di Siviglia (Vienna) and Don Ottavio in Mozart’s Don Giovanni (La Scala), with Arnold in Rossini’s Guillaume Tell (Rome), Leopold in 2013 in Halévy’s La Juive (Zurich and Amsterdam), and Raoul de Nangis in Meyerbeer’s Les Huguenots (Brussels).
