JORGE VAZ DE CARVALHO

Baritone, writer and translator Jorge Vaz de Carvalho graduated in Modern Languages and Literature from Lisbon University and also has a master’s in Comparative Literature. He made his operatic début at the Teatro de São Carlos in 1984 and has since appeared in Belgium, France, Germany, Spain and, further afield, in China and Australia, among other places. He has performed dozens of operas by composers such as Mozart, Rossini, Verdi, Puccini and Wagner, as well as Portuguese works by Alfredo Keil, Marcos Portugal (Le donne cambiate released on Marco Polo 8.225154), Alexandre Delgado and António Pinho Vargas. He has published volumes of poetry and essays as well as many works of translation.
