A graduate of Heidelberg and at one time a member of the court chapel, Kaspar Othmayr was associated with the Protestant Reformation in Germany, marrying and assuming various church positions, notably at Ansbach. He was prolific as a composer and published a quantity of religious and secular songs, with settings of German and Latin texts.
