Kimball Sykes has been Principal Clarinet of the National Arts Centre Orchestra since 1985. A native of Vancouver, he studied with Ronald deKant and Robert Marcellus before becoming Principal Clarinet of the Honolulu Symphony from 1983 to 1985. He performs regularly as a soloist and chamber musician throughout Canada and the United States. His recording of Mozart’s Clarinet Quintet with Pinchas Zukerman was nominated for a Juno in 2004. He teaches at the University of Ottawa and for the National Youth Orchestra of Canada.
