BEATRICE LONG

Beatrice Long has gained a reputation as one of the leading performers of her generation, and is a visionary artist constantly seeking new insights into music that has been heard countless times. For more than two decades, her recitals and concerts have received international acclaim.

"Beatrice Long caused a sensation" Le Provencal, France

"Long plays with a maximum of insight and technical ability and can bring the mighty Steinway to its knees" Post and Courier, Charleston, SC

"With inspired mastery, emotive range and profound lyricism characteristic of the virtuoso, she extracted the most intimate and hidden meaning in music." La Nacion, Costa Rica

"With the barnstorming technique…the Taiwan natives allowed every piece they played to speak for itself" The Washington Post, (for the Long Duo)

Very much at home on the concert stage, Beatrice Long has performed as a soloist with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, Orquesta Sinfonia de Mexico, National Symphony Orchestra of Taiwan, Taipei Symphony, Laredo Philharmonic, New Amsterdam Symphony, Jura Symphony Orchestra in France, and the Academy of West Festival Orchestra among others. A top prize winner at the Robert Casadesus International Competition, Taipei International Competition, World Piano Competition in Cincinnati and others, Long's rare combination of dramatic virtuosity and eloquent musicianship has captivated audiences in Southeast Asia, Belgium, France, Switzerland, Central America and in the United States. She also appeared as recitalist in Ravinia Festival, Fontainebleau and Chateau de Lourmarin Festivals.

She also enjoys a versatile career as a chamber musician, a recording artist, and a duo-pianist. Her Scriabin Mazurkas disc on Naxos was praised in the American Record Guide as "impressive on many levels".

She collaborates with her sister Christina as the Long Duo, performing frequently in broad and unusual repertoire.

Long received degrees from the Curtis Institute in Philadelphia and the Peabody Conservatory. Her teachers include Mieczyslaw Horszowski, Leon Fleisher, Enrique Graf, Seymour Lipkin, and Fou Ts'ong.
