Mezzo-soprano Lori Summers has earned critical acclaim for her performances with numerous prominent groups throughout the Northwestern U.S. Operatic highlights include the rôle of Giovanna in Verdi’s Rigoletto and Marcellina in Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro, both with Tacoma Opera, as well as Marcellina as a guest artist for the Seattle Opera Young Artists Program; other engagements include the rôle of Ma Moss in Copland’s The Tender Land with Vashon Opera. In 1990, Summers was a finalist for the National Association of Teachers of Singing regional competition. Concert appearances include Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony with numerous groups, including the Bremerton and Yakima symphonies; Prokofiev’s Alexander Nevsky and Vivaldi’s Gloria with Seattle Choral Company; Mozart’s Requiem and Berlioz’s Les nuits d’été with Northwest Sinfonietta; Bach’s Magnificat with the Bainbridge Island Chorale; Mozart’s Coronation Mass with Bellevue Philharmonic; and Handel’s Messiah with the Bellevue Philharmonic, Bainbridge Island Chorale and Spokane Symphony. She has also taken part in the Max Aronoff Viola Institute recital series. Summers studied voice at Pacific Lutheran University with Mira Frohnmayer and with baritone William Eddy for many years.
