LUCA ANTONIO PREDIERI (1688 - 1767)
Predieri served as a viola-player and violinist at San Petronio in his native Bologna, where he also established himself as a composer. In 1737 he moved to Vienna as deputy director of the court chapel, of which he took charge in 1741. He spent the last fourteen years of his life at home in Bologna. He wrote a number of operas, oratorios and settings of liturgical texts.
Operas
Predieri wrote some thirty operas, staged in Bologna and elsewhere in Italy, and in Vienna. His settings of libretti by Metastasio included the opera Zenobia, staged in Vienna in 1740. This includes the aria with trumpet obbligato, Pace una volta.
