MALCOLM LAYFIELD The violinist and conductor Malcolm Layfield formed the Goldberg Ensemble in 1982. He has been the soloist in works written for him and the Ensemble and has also appeared as soloist with the City of London Sinfonia, Northern Sinfonia and Scottish Chamber Orchestra. He has had a distinguished teaching career for many years and in 2002 he was appointed Head of the School of Strings at the Royal Northern College of Music.
