After studying the piano Davide Malvestio was awarded, with the highest marks, a diploma in singing at the Padua Pollini Conservatory, simultaneously taking a degree in musicology. He undertook further study at the Schola Cantorum in Basle, specialising in baroque and chamber performance. With a scholarship he also attended the biennial courses of the Parma Fondazione Toscanini. In 2004 he won first prize in the Latina Giacomo Lauri Volpi Competition, followed by further triumphs at Pescia and Ortona. His operatic rôles have included Figaro (Il barbiere di Siviglia), Count Almaviva (Le nozze di Figaro), Dandini (La Cenerentola), Albert (Werther), and Count Robinson (Il matrimonio segreto). His concert activities have embraced works by JS Bach, Handel, Haydn, Fauré, Puccini and Carl Orff. His recordings include the rôle of the huntsman in Rossini’s Guillaume Tell under Antonio Pappano for EMI and the baritone solo in Galuppi’s Messa per San Marco for Chandos.
