MANUEL COVES Manuel Coves was born in Linares and studied at the Córdoba Conservatorio Superior de Música, where he took higher qualifications in piano and chamber music, and in orchestral conducting at the Barcelona Conservatorio de Música del Liceo. From 1996 to 2001 he was professor of instrumental accompaniment at the Córdoba Conservatorio Superior, followed by a year as professor of vocal repertoire at the Salamanca Conservatorio Superior. From 1999 he worked with Miguel Roa at the Teatro Lírico Nacional de La Zarzuela, collaborating with other theatres, including the Seville Teatro Maestranza, Madrid Teatro Real, Barcelona Liceu, Valladolid Calderón and Oviedo Campoamor, among others. He has worked with musical directors including José Ramón Encinar, Lorin Maazel, Plácido Domingo, Manuel Galduf, Alain Lombard, Miquel Ortega, Antoni Ros Marbá, and Josep Pons. Recently, Manuel Coves has conducted several new productions at the Teatro del Canal in Madrid, by Kurt Weill, Amadeo Vives and Víctor Rebullida among others.
