MARIA JOSE MARTOS The lyric soprano María José Martos was born in Xeraco, in Valencia, and studied at the Valencia Conservatorio Superior de Música with Carmen Martínez and Ana Luisa Chova, participating in masterclasses with Scotto, Cotrubas, Kraus, Obratzova, Lloris, Bergonzi, de los Angeles and Zanetti. Her many prizes include the Chavarri, Viñas, Oviedo, Urban Raselli, Logroño, Alonso, Kraus, and Madame Butterfly competitions. She has appeared as a soloist in repertoire from Lully to Fauré and on stage in a range of works, zarzuelas and operas, including Goyescas and a number of first performances. Her recordings include a range of Spanish vocal repertoire.
