MARIA SOULIS The Greek-Canadian contralto Maria Soulis has been living and performing in Europe since 1999. Initially, as a resident singer with the Regensburg Opera in Germany, her rôles included Charlotte (Werther), Prince Orlofsky (Die Fledermaus), Dorabella (Così fan tutte), Hänsel (Hänsel und Gretel), Maddalena (Rigoletto) and Bradamante (Handel’s Alcina). Other rôles have ranged from Purcell’s Dido to Bizet’s Carmen and include Rossini’s Rosina. She boasts a similarly wide repertoire in the concert-hall, from Bach to Theodorakis.
