MARTIN HUMMEL Martin Hummel was born in Freiburg im Breisgau into a musical family and had his musical training in Würzburg and at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis with Kurt Widmer and Rene Jacobs. He further continued his musical study with Margreet Honig, Peter Schreier, Julia Hamari, Hans Hotter and others, embarking on a career of song recitals and concerts that has taken him to a number of European countries, to the United States and to Asia. He has taken part in first performances under leading conductors and has undertaken broadcasts and television engagements, in addition to his recordings for major record companies. He teaches at the Würzburg and Bayreuth Musikhochschule.
