Matthew Tuell, praised for his “stylish singing” by Opera News, gave a “masterful” performance in the world première of Rappahannock County. As apprentice artist with the Santa Fe Opera he covered the rôles of Narraboth (Salome) and Leukippos (Daphne). He also covered the rôle of Bénédict (Béatrice et Bénédict) as a Chicago Opera Theater young artist and performed supporting rôles in seven different productions as apprentice artist with Michigan Opera Theatre. In his principal artist début with the Santa Fe Opera, he performed the rôle of Maintop (Billy Budd) and also charmed audiences as Doctor Sinisgalli in Nino Rota’s I due timidi.
