"The Nomos Duo created a captivating atmosphere rich in colors and nuances. This was an outstanding recital by musicians in full command of their instruments." Concert review by the Reykjavik Daily DV.
Icelandic pianist Nina-Margret Grimsdottir and Australian violinist Nicholas Milton joined forces in New York City in 1993 to dedicate themselves to the repertoire for violin and piano.
The duo has since performed numerous concerts in the United States and Europe. From 1994-1998 the Nomos Duo was Ensemble-in-Residence at the Conservatory of Music at Brooklyn College in the City University of New York and at the Bloomingdale School of Music in New York City.
The Nomos Duo presents the standard recital repertoire in addition to a variety of thematic programs and series. In recent seasons they have performed complete sonata cycles by Beethoven, Brahms, Mozart and Schubert. In a series entitled Fin de Siecle France, the duo performed the complete works of Ravel and Debussy. As part of an all-American concert, the duo played the world premiere of the Duplex Variations by Faye-Ellen Silverman.
Nina-Margret Grimsdottir and Nicholas Milton have successfully established solo and chamber music careers in their own countries as well as internationally. Mr. Milton is currently Concertmaster of the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra in Australia as well as Permanent Guest Conductor of the Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra. Ms. Grimsdottir concertizes with the Iceland Trio and the Reykjavik Wind Quintet.
