OMSK PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA
The Omsk Symphony Orchestra was founded in 1966, becoming, in 1996, the Omsk Academic Symphony Orchestra. Now, as the Omsk Philharmonic Orchestra, it has toured many cities of Russia, visited every republic of the former USSR, toured Italy and Spain, and made many recordings. The orchestra has collaborated numerous leading guest soloists and conductors, and serves as the initiator and organizer of many major cultural forums. With the support of the Government of the Omsk region of Siberia, the Omsk Philharmonic hosts the International Organ Music Festival, which brings together leading organists of Europe and the world, and the Festival of Compatriots, celebrating well-known musicians whose careers have been linked with Omsk. Ensembles associated with the organization include the symphony orchestra, Russian Folk Choir, Omsk Chamber Orchestra, Tara Gates Ensemble of Folk Instruments, and numerous other instrumental and vocal ensembles.
