PEDRO CASALS Pedro Casals was born in 1982 in Madrid, where he studied piano at the Conservatory. He took first prize in a number of competitions, including the Ciudad de San Sebastián, Jacinto Guerrero, Marisa Montiel, Ciudad de Manresa, Infanta Cristina, Ricardo Viñes, Yamaha-Hazen, Juventudes Musicales de Madrid, Blüthner and José Roca. He has enjoyed a concert career throughout Spain and the rest of Europe, with appearances also in China and Australia, and collaboration with leading conductors. His research into the composer Manuel Blasco de Nebra earned him a doctorate at the Madrid Universidad Autónoma, where he also holds a higher degree in musicology.
