PEDRO ITURRALDE (b 1929 )
The Spanish saxophonist, clarinetist and composer Pedro Iturralde made his first
public appearance as a saxophonist at the age of eleven. In Madrid, where he graduated
from the Royal Conservatory, he led his own jazz quartet, experimenting with flamenco
influences. He studied briefly at Berklee College of Music in the United States,
and taught the saxophone at the Madrid Conservatory until 1994, while enjoying
an international career as a performer both in jazz and as a soloist with symphony
orchestras.
