PETER MIKULAS The bass Peter Mikulas ranks among the leading Slovak singers. He studied at the Academy of Music and Drama in Bratislava, where he graduated in 1978. His awards include triumph in three important international vocal competitions, the 1978 Antonín Dvořák Singers Competition in Karlovy Vary, the 1982 Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow, and the 1984 Miriam Helin Competition in Helsinki. He is a member of the Slovak National Opera in Bratislava and sings regularly in the main opera houses of the world. For Naxos he has appeared in recordings of Mozart’s Così fan tutte (Naxos 8.660008–10) and Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 14 (Naxos 8.550631).
