PIERRE ATTAINGNANT

The music publisher and printer Pierre Attaingnant is particularly important for the attention that he gave to the work of French composers of his time. In printing, his influential innovation lay in the use of sections of music including the note and part of the stave, avoiding the necessity of multiple overprinting. His own musical talents were skilfully employed editorially.
