PIERRE PICHLER Pierre Pichler was born in Bruck an der Mur and studied at the Graz Conservatory. He won first prize in the Jugend musiziert competition and was a pupil of Peter Schmidl at the Vienna Music University. He was awarded a diploma with distinction and participated in master-classes with Alfred Prinz. He has played as a soloist with Ohio State University and Indiana University Bloomington, and appears regularly as a deputy with the Vienna Philharmonic and Vienna State Opera. He has participated in concert tours under Sir Simon Rattle, Seiji Ozawa, Zubin Mehta, Mariss Jansons, Ricardo Muti, Nikolaus Harnoncourt and Pierre Boulez. He has also played with the Vienna Symphony Orchestra, the Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Vienna Virtuosi and the Mahler Chamber Orchestra, among other ensembles.
