A leading figure in American music and musical theatre, Rob Fisher is founding music director of Encores! (1994–2005) and made numerous recordings including the GRAMMY® Award-winning Chicago cast album. In recent seasons, he has conducted The Sound of Music at Carnegie Hall, was supervisor of the Broadway revival of Tony-winning Anything Goes, music director of Hair in Central Park (and supervisor for its Tony-winning 2009 Broadway run) and has led the New York Philharmonic’s acclaimed revival of My Fair Lady. He served as producer/music director for the Lincoln Center’s American Songbook, creating tributes to the Gershwins, Bernstein, Cole Porter and Kander & Ebb. Fisher regularly appears on the Lyrics & Lyricists series at NY’s 92nd Street Y. He is a regular guest conductor for major US orchestras and a frequent guest on A Prairie Home Companion.
