ROBERTO TAGLIAVINI The bass Roberto Tagliavini, born in 1976 in Parma, studied with Romano Franceschetto. After winning third prize at the 2004 Antonio Bacchelli Vocal Competition in Livorno, he was engaged by several Italian theatres, including the Teatro Regio in Parma, the Teatro Comunale in Bologna, Teatro Alighieri in Ravenna, as well as in Piacenza, Modena, Cremona, Pavia, Como, and Brescia.
Roberto Tagliavini has sung principally Italian rôles, including Capellio in Bellini’s I Capuleti e i Montecchi, Sparafucile and Monterone (Rigoletto), Ferrando (Il trovatore), Samuel and Tom (Un ballo in maschera), and Angelotti (Tosca). As Colline (La bohème) he appeared at Leipzig Opera. He has also sung Publio in La clemenza di Tito and participated in such rarely heard works as Cherubini’s Ifigenia in Aulide and Verdi’s Battaglia di Legnano. As a concert singer he has been heard in the Mozart and the Donizetti Requiems.
