MARCO FILIPPO ROMANO

Marco Filippo Romano was born in 1982 in Caltanissetta and began his musical studies as a horn-player, graduating at the Vincenzo Bellini Conservatory in Palermo. The soprano Elizabeth Lombardini Smith introduced him to singing and he attended masterclasses with Romolo Guglielmo Gazzani and Renato Bruson. He sang Dulcamara in L’elisir d’amore in Palermo, Don Gregorio in Tutti in maschera at the Festival of Taormina and the older Bruschino in Il signor Bruschino at Wexford. With Don Profondo in Il viaggio a Reims made his début at the Rossini Festival in Pesaro. He made his début as Don Alfonso in Così fan tutte at the Munich State Opera. Other rôles include Taddeo in L’Italiana in Algeri, Trombonok in Rossini’s Il viaggio a Reims, and Belcore in Donizetti’s L’elisir d’amore. In 2011 he made his début as Leporello in Mozart’s Don Giovanni in Vicenza and as Don Magnifico in Rossini’s La Cenerentola in Bologna. In 2012 he sang Don Bartolo in Il barbiere di Siviglia in Florence and Taddeo at the Teatro Campoamor in Oviedo.
