SHANE THIO

Shane Thio had his early music education in Singapore and later at the Royal Academy of Music and the Royal College of Music in London. As an orchestral pianist and soloist he has performed many concerts with the Singapore Symphony Orchestra. He is the resident pianist with the Singapore Symphony Chorus and performs frequently in chamber music concerts and song recitals. As a repetiteur he has worked with the Singapore Dance Theatre and the Singapore Lyric Opera, as well as with many choreographers in creating works for dance and piano. He has premièred and recorded many works by Singaporean composers and performs with the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra in their modern music program. As a harpsichordist he plays early as well as contemporary music. He is presently working on Schubert’s song-cycles, Winterreise and Die Schöne Müllerin as well as a site-specific piece for harpsichord, electronics and dancers.
