SINFONIA VERDI Sinfonia Verdi was founded by David Murphy and Julia Barker in 1990. Since its first concerts, which were given in aid of environmental charities, it has gained a reputation for exhilarating, communicative performances. Sinfonia Verdi counts among its players some of the finest musicians in the United Kingdom, including many well-known soloists, chamber musicians and distinguished orchestral players. The orchestra has undertaken pioneering work in mixing the music of the Western Classical tradition with the music of India, and also in the field of historically informed performance: in 1996, the orchestra gave the first performance since Beethovenʼs lifetime of his Seventh Symphony using the original manuscript sources.
