Sokkelund Sangkor is one of Denmark’s leading chamber choirs. Since it started in 1984 the choir has given more than 400 concerts. Numerous radio and television broadcasts have won the choir a large audience. In 1986 the Choir won first price in the International Chamber Choir Contest of the European Broadcasting Union and was in 1993 given the Copenhagen County Official Cultural Award. In 2001, Sokkelund Sangkor won the 1st Prize in the Holmboe Competition, Horsens. The founder and conductor, Morten Schuldt-Jensen, for a couple of decades one of the leading Danish choral profiles, is now Chordirektor at the Gewandhaus, Leipzig.
