MICHAEL SPYRES

Michael Spyres was born in Mansfield (Missouri) and began his studies in the United States, continuing at the Vienna Conservatory. He was a Young Artist with Opera Theatre Saint Louis, making his main stage operatic début as Rodolfo in Puccini’s La bohème. His increasingly successful career took him, in 2006, to his début at the Teatro San Carlo in Naples as Jaquino in Fidelio, followed by Alberto in Rossini’s La gazzetta for ROSSINI IN WILDBAD and in 2008 Otello. In 2008 he joined the Deutsche Oper Berlin, singing Tamino, and Steuermann in Wagner’s Der fliegende Holländer. There have been further appearances in leading rôles at La Scala, Milan, Vlaamse Oper, Ghent, the Semperoper Dresden, the Liceu in Barcelona, Covent Garden in London, the Salzburg Festival and elsewhere.
