STEFAN CIFOLELLI The tenor Stefan Cifolelli was born in Antwerp and studied at the Royal Conservatoire in Brussels, where he was first engaged in opera and bel canto. From 2002 to 2004 he attended master-classes under Vera Rosza, Sarah Walker, Tom Krause, Graham Johnson and Loh Siew-Tuan and took the Vera Rozsa Scholarship that enabled him to make his début in L’elisir d’amore, Così fan tutte, Die Zauberflöte, I Capuleti ed i Montecchi and Il barbiere di Siviglia. At the same time he participated in the workshops of the Opera Studio of the Brussels Théâtre de la Monnaie in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Wozzeck with Willy Decker and Don Giovanni with directors such as Keith Warner, Willy Decker and Ferdinand de Carpentries. At La Monnaie he sang in Don Pasquale, Francesconi’s Ballata and Cavalli’s Eliogabalo. In 2004 he participated in Alberto Zedda’s Accademia Rossiniana in Pesaro, going on to appear there in Bianca e Falliero, Adelaide di Borgogna and La gazza ladra.
