STEFANIE IRANYI Born in Chiemgau, the mezzo-soprano Stefanie Irányi began her studies at the Munich
Musikhochschule in 1997, graduating with distinction in 2006. She was a master-class student in
the Lieder class of Helmut Deutsch in Munich and attended master-classes with Sarah Walker,
Sena Jurinac and Christa Ludwig She held a scholarship from the Yehudi Menuhin Foundation and
was winner of the 2004 Zwickau Robert Schumann Competition and the Romantic Song section of
the Munich International Promotional Prize. In autumn 2004 she took first prize in the Berlin
Regional Singing Competition. She has given Lieder recitals with Helmut Deutsch at home and
abroad, with concerts in Barcelona, at the Vilabertran Schubertiade, the Wigmore Hall in London,
Geneva, Vevey, and Vienna. She sang the alto solos in the St Matthew Passion under Peter Schreier in Japan and in
Bach’s Magnificat under Helmuth Rilling. 2006 brought her stage début at the Turin Teatro Regio in Menotti’s The
Consul and in 2009 she returned there to sing Idamante.
