Stephan E. Wehr studied in Cologne, Salzburg and Vienna. He was a prize-winner in Jugend Musiziert and was awarded the music prize of the Federal Association of German Industry Culture Circle, and an award from DAAD. His engagements include appearances at the German Rhine Opera in Düsseldorf, Cologne Opera, Theater Hagen, the Kleist Theatre at Frankfurt (Oder) and he has served as assistant to Lothar Zagrosek, Janos Kulka, Hans Wallat and others. He has directed opera premières and symphony concerts with various orchestras and has undertaken concert engagements also in France, Italy, Belgium and Austria. He is artistic director of the Moers Lower Rhine Chamber Orchestra and lecturer in choral training at the Cologne Musikhochschule. His edition of the performance material of Schweitzer’s Alceste is published by Schott Music International, Mainz. His recordings include two organ releases.
