STOCKHOLM STRAUSS ORCHESTRA The Stockholm Strauss Orchestra was founded in 1992 as a non-profit organization. Its 50 players are all members of the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the Royal Opera House Orchestra, the People’s Opera Orchestra and the Stockholm Symphonic Brass Orchestra. The Strauss Orchestra is made up, following the original Vienna Strauss-Capelle, of 10 first violins, six seconds, four violas, four cellos, three double basses, pairs of flutes, oboes, clarinets and bassoons, four horns, three trumpets, three trombones, tuba, three percussion instruments and a harp. The orchestra plays all kinds of music, both popular and classical, from string quartets to orchestral works, with a current repertoire of more than 1,200 works by some 120 composers.
