Richard Tanner has, since 1998, been Director of Music at Blackburn Cathedral, where he leads one of the most wide-ranging musical programmes in any English Cathedral. He is an Organist and Musical Director for the BBC Radio 4 Daily Service, working regularly with the BBC Daily Service Singers. He frequently conducts the Manchester Chamber Choir, Northern Chamber Orchestra and Canzona, one of England’s leading ensembles specialising in the performance of baroque music on period instruments. In addition to his work as an organ recitalist, he leads choral courses worldwide and as a record producer has worked alongside many leading choir trainers and organists on over forty projects. Richard Tanner was a chorister at St Paul’s Cathedral, student at the Royal Academy of Music, and organ scholar of Exeter College, Oxford, and St Albans Cathedral. Before moving to Blackburn he spent five years as Director of Music at All Saints’ Church, Northampton.
