TORONTO MENDELSSOHN YOUTH CHOIR Toronto Mendelssohn Youth Choir
The Toronto Mendelssohn Youth Choir (TMYC) was founded in 1977 and provides
an excellent training opportunity for young vocalists. It consists of approximately
seventy singers (ages 15-23) drawn from all over the Greater Toronto area, under
the direction of Conductor Robert Cooper. In addition to presenting its own
concert series, The TMYC has made guest appearances with the Toronto Mendelssohn
Choir, the National Arts Centre Orchestra, the Toronto Symphony Orchestra and
numerous Toronto area community groups. They have performed at the Guelph Spring
Festival, Roy Thomson Hall, Massey Hall, at Christmas with Composer/Conductor
John Rutter, and have also performed at the International Choral Festival and
the International "Eco-Ed" World Congress. Other notable appearances
include the Canadian premières of Lloyd Webber's Requiem and Britten's
The Company of Heaven.
