UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH CAROLINA WIND ENSEMBLE

The University of South Carolina Wind Ensemble is the premier wind band at the University of South Carolina. Passionately committed to new music, the ensemble has commissioned and premièred works by numerous composers, including Jennifer Higdon, David Dzubay, Frank Ticheli, Joseph Turrin, Kevin Walczyk, Steven Bryant, and John Mackey. In addition, the ensemble embraces the standard wind band repertoire, including works by Paul Hindemith, Arnold Schoenberg, Aaron Copland, Karel Husa, Vincent Persichetti, Gustav Holst, and many others. Recent activities of the ensemble include a concert tour of the People’s Republic of China in March 2012 that included a nationally televised broadcast from the National Centre for the Performing Arts in Beijing and seven concerts in six cities throughout China. The ensemble has also performed at the College Band Directors Association National Conference, the American Bandmasters Association Conference, and the South Carolina Music Educators Association Conference.
