Víctor Pablo Pérez was born in Burgos and studied at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Madrid and at the Hochschule für Musik in Munich. During the period 1980–1988 he was principal conductor and artistic director of the Symphony Orchestra of Asturias, and in 1987 was principal guest conductor of the National Orchestra of Spain. From 1986 to 2005 he was principal conductor and artistic director of the Tenerife Symphony Orchestra, of which he is now honorary director. He collaborates regularly with the Teatro Real in Madrid, the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, La Coruña Mozart Festival, international music festivals in the Canary Islands, Perelada, Granada and Santander, the Schleswig-Holstein Festival, the Bruckner Festival in Madrid, the Pesaro Rossini Opera Festival, the Festival of San Lorenzo del Escorial and La Quincena Musical in San Sebastián. From 1993 until June 2013 he was principal conductor of the Galicia Symphony Orchestra. He was appointed principal conductor and artistic director of the Orchestra and Chorus of the Comunidad de Madrid from the 2013–2014 season.
