MANUEL VILAS

Born in Santiago de Compostela, Manuel Vilas studied early harps (from the twelfth to the eighteenth century) in Madrid with Nuria Llopis (Spanish arpa de dos órdenes), and in Milan with Mara Galassi (Italian arpa doppia). His career has brought collaboration with the Elyma Ensemble, Camerata Iberia, Les musiciens du Louvre, Al ayre español, the Munich Choral society, the Ars Longa ensemble of Havana (Cuba), La trulla de voces, Capella de ministrers, Música Ficta, Capella de Ministres, La galanía, Os Segreis de Lisboa (Portugal), La hispanoflamenca, and Forma Antiqua, among others, and he has given solo recitals in Europe and the Americas. In 2008 he founded the Ars Atlántica ensemble which gave the première of cantatas found in the Palazzo Contarini in Piazzola sul Brenta (Padova). The recording of these cantatas received the Prelude Award in Holland as one of the best early music records of 2010. He is the artistic director of the Guerra Manuscript recording project.
